REALM Academy Workshop showcases platform capabilities and advances in AI medical device software evaluation
On 14 April 2026, the REALM Academy brought together key stakeholders from across the European health data and AI ecosystem in Brussels for a hands-on workshop titled “From Data Federation to Medical AI Model Evaluation.” The event focused on advancing trustworthy, transparent, and scalable evaluation of AI medical device software in healthcare.
Participants explored the full REALM approach, from federated real-world data infrastructures to reproducible AI model assessment. The workshop highlighted how cross-border data collaboration can be achieved without centralising sensitive health data, while ensuring compliance with European regulatory frameworks such as the AI Act and the European Health Data Space.
A key highlight of the day was a live demonstration of the REALM platform, delivered by Comunicare Solutions. The session guided attendees through the end-to-end workflow from model onboarding and dataset selection to evaluation results and model card generation illustrating how the platform supports transparent evidence generation for regulatory decision-making.
The interactive format fostered exchange between developers, regulators, healthcare providers, and data experts, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in building trustworthy AI solutions for clinical practice.
Looking ahead, the REALM Academy will continue its programme with an upcoming training session on “How to realize safe and effective AI in clinical practice.” The training, scheduled for 19 June 2026 in Brussels, will provide participants with practical guidance on integrating AI into clinical workflows and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. Interested stakeholders are encouraged to apply and join the next event to deepen their understanding of safe, effective, and trustworthy AI in healthcare.
