REALM Announces First 2026 Webinar and Upcoming Stakeholder Workshop

Europe’s healthcare systems generate enormous volumes of real-world data (RWD), yet challenges around access, governance and interoperability continue to hinder its full potential for research, innovation, and regulatory assessment. As the demand grows for trustworthy, transparent evaluation of AI-based medical software, the REALM project is taking significant steps to support data providers, regulators, and patient communities across the continent.

To kick off the new year, the REALM Academy is launching its 2026 webinar series with an introductory session aimed at hospitals, university medical centres, national authorities, and other providers of clinical data.

The session will outline REALM’s GDPR-compliant approach to data sharing, its federated architecture based on the OMOP Common Data Model, and the role of National Nodes in Belgium, the Netherlands and Greece. Participants will also learn how REALM’s tools and governance model aim to support trustworthy AI evaluation across Europe.

In January, REALM will also host an in-person Stakeholder Workshop for patient organisations and medical research charities. The workshop aims to elevate the voices of patients and the broader public in discussions on how AI-based medical software should be evaluated and regulated. Participants will explore what matters most to patients when evaluating medical AI, including trust, transparency, and regulatory oversight.
