REALM at the OHDSI Europe Symposium 2025

On July 7, 2025, the REALM consortium actively contributed to the 6th European OHDSI Symposium held at the historic Old Prison in Hasselt, Belgium. This year's event brought together hundreds of researchers, policymakers, and industry leaders to explore how OMOP-CDM and open-source tools are shaping the future of health data research.

Our team, represented by Frederic Jung, Stef Rommes, and Sariga Kakkamani, proudly presented three posters during the collaborator showcase:

  • RIANA Dashboard: A blockchain-enabled approach for representing AI model intent in OMOP with Atlas-like functionality.
  • Enhancing Transparency in Healthcare: Blockchain-supported model cards for AI evaluation reporting using OMOP and Heracles.
  • RAG-Enhanced LLM Pipeline: A novel AI-assisted method for semantic mapping of contextual features to OMOP vocabulary.

Participating in this symposium was a valuable opportunity to engage with the OHDSI community. As REALM builds upon OMOP standards and related tooling, events like this reinforce our alignment with international best practices. We also observed a significant focus on the upcoming European Health Data Space (EHDS) regulation, reflecting REALM’s growing relevance in enabling secure, interoperable, and trustworthy AI evaluation environments across Europe.

REALM continues its annual participation in OHDSI Europe to foster connections with data providers, strengthen its role in the European data ecosystem, and ensure the development of a robust, transparent, and standards-based platform for AI as a medical device.

A special thanks to our REALM partners, Ankur Lohachab and Guilherme Madureira Sanches Ribeiro, for their active contributions to the writing of the abstracts and posters.
